At a slide show at the Third Dimension Society (NW) meeting
earlier this year Bruce projected some of his Realist close-ups
and some shots from a home-made stereoscopic close-up
cameras he has built. They were indeed real gems.

If I remember rightly the close focus Realist shots were a 
bit harsh to view due to the lense separation.
