Here are some current updates regarding the Brackett Fader Projection
System.
Even if you have a Fader on order, please read the following to learn
about the design improvements we have made to the Fader.

There are TWO changes we have made:
1) The Fader mechanisim is now fully electronic rheostat controlled,
rather than a mechanical blade system.
2) The sync cable that links two Faders for stereo dissolve, is now
electronic, rather than mechanical due to #1.

See the New Brackett Fader Projection System, just click on the
link below and scroll down below the RBT 101 projector to see it!
HOWEVER, THE INFORMATION BELOW THIS LINK IS ACCURATE......
NOT THE INFORMATION AT THE ACTUAL WEBSITE

3D Concepts, in a joint venture with Brackett Engineering, offers the
new Stereo Fader Projection System for the Realist 41 x 101 stereo slide
formats with images sizes up to 23mm x 33mm ( interchange ability to 2 x
2 formatto be announced). This high quality manual-advance stereo
projector has an ELECTRONIC RHEOSTAT system for fade up and down of
images, or
twin projected dissolve between two images. Smooth fader transitions
provide more pleasurable viewing, than the hard off-and-on transitions
standard stereo projectors usually provide.

THE ORIGINAL mechanical design was quite successful, the projector's
bulbs on all the time, a blade moves in front of the bulbs, creating the
fade down/up effect. The temperature at the emulsion is just over 90
degrees due to the excellent fan cooling system design, like that of the
Brackett Dissolver.
The mechanical effect was very smooth and pleasing to the eye. When the
blade passed in front of the bulbs, it had to absorb intense heat thrown
off from the bulbs, which was not a problem for normal operation. But,
when the blade was kept down in front of the bulb for long periods of
time, such as when two Faders are linked for stereo dissolve..and one
projector's image is up on the screen for a long time...the other
projector in dark mode would have its blade get very hot from a long
period of being in front of the bulbs, thus when the blade moved back to
expose the bulbs, in its up position facimng the interior top of the
bulb chamber, it transferred a lot of heat to the upper panel, where
slide trays are typically stored for a projected show.

IMPROVEMENT: The Fader now has rheostat controlled electronic fade, like
that of the Brackett Dissolver, so the bulbs fade up...and down....
reducing the heat
thrown off by the bulbs substantially. There is no heat thrown of of
the mechanical blade...because the blade is NOT used in the improved
rheostat design.
The Fader will run as cool as the Brackett Dissolver does.

LINKAGE to a second Fader for Dissolve: Linkage is now electronic and
not
mechanical...which allows for more ease and flexibility of linkage. For
all that matter...one could point one projector to one end of a
room...and the other to another end....with one projector being over,
under, alongside the other...that was not possible with mechanical
fade...the linkage meant that there had to be a fairly specific
postioning of the second projector.

The Fader uses interchangeable lenses, combined with halogen bulb
illumination, for extremely bright-sharp images. The Fader is a
compact 9 in x 9in x 12in, and weighs only 12lbs. The unique feature of
the Fader projector is that, it can be electronicvally linked to a
second Fader, to create a system for stereo dissolve, or side by side
on-screen, A-B stereo image projection.

A single control on either side of the projector controls both ganged
and individual focus functions. Teflon lined lens guides make focusing
extremely smooth, accurate and easy. Vertical and horizontal controls
are easy to access, for easy and quick adjustment. A slide tray shelf
on top of the Fader accommodates two 4 x 6 slide trays

A limited run of 25 Brackett Faders will be made in 1998.
