P3D Pola whatever
>>A quarter plate (quarter wave plate) or 90 degree retarder definetly
>>converts linear to circular polarisation it does not depolarise however
it
>>does de-planepolarise and I am begining to see where the confusion is
>>coming in and perhaps the camera manafacturers are partly responsible.
Come on, now....do not use terms that do not exist in the literature or in
the world of the designers and engineers. "de-planepolorize" is not a term
I can find references to. Leave it alone, Retarder is just fine, understood
by industry and is consistent. A retarder is designed to do what it does.
When the camera manufacturers describe and offer a circular device, they
know what they are talking about.
I asked originally if people on the list were using polarizers and the
techniques they use. This has turned into a big polarizer discussion with
lots of wrong information. So, I will stop replying. If anyone wants
accurate info, they can visit Polaroid, or talk to me. I have extensive
experience in this area, and will be glad to help. Some are turning this
innocent discussion around...all I was interested in knowing is how all of
you are using polarizers with the Realist and other stereo cameras. If you
all want to talk about it, cool. I will observe and lurk and see if I can
learn something more.
