P3D RE: PHOTO-3D digest 3031
>>>I think the expense and complexity of 3D shooting pretty much rules out
the
idea that the movie was "partially shot in 3D" as wildly improbable. And
computer conversions to true 3D are equally unlikely at this stage. Is this
"Millennium Theater" the same outfit that was advertising 3D versions of
popular films several months ago, and showing them through two polarized
projectors off-set so the (flat) image floated behind the screen plane?
1) The Millennium theater is near Orlando on rt 192 the main drag through
Kissimmee at approx. mile marker 10.
2) The movie was NOT a simple spacial displacement. I have been shooting
and viewing 3D for 15 years. The scenes were always behind the screens but
had true depth. Closeup's showed 3D shaping and correct spacial positioning
of objects relative to each other as well as the contours of the object
itself. It looked like normal 2 D film techniques filmed in 3D. I am sure
from the results that they did not go to the trouble that IMAX or Disney
does when specifically shooting a 3D movie but the results were pretty good.
I though at first that they might have just processed succeeding frames for
spacial info but the lip synch was good and the processing cost would have
been huge. It really looks like they shot in 3D.
Regards
Mark
