which explains the fine art as well as possible methods of stopping this
practice.  I personally would like, at the very least, to see the "5
minute rule" put into practice on eBay.  That is, if a bid comes in at
the last second, the auction is extended at least another five minutes.

Personally, I don't always have the time to "sit" on an auction until
the last second.  So, I always hope my high bid is higher than a
sniper's.  Still, there's some good tips on this FAQ.
