It's kind of funny.  The big thing "taught" for live-auctions is that
one really MUST know what something is worth and what one is willing to
pay for it *before* the auction actually starts (during the preview period)
else one ends up paying too much.   Sniping at ebay 
quasi-enforces one to do things the proper way (making up one's mind when
one has time to ponder, research and think about it).  Rather than thank
eBay and sniping for making one do things the right way, many are upset
about it.  Just can't win (pun not intended).  :-)
