Sharpness is part of it, I am sure. However, I also think it is contrast as
well. I have several sample black and white prints, 8 x 10, that are not
tack sharp. If you look at them, however, they appear to be exceedingly
sharp. I do not think this is an optical illusion just interesting to see
how apparent sharpness can be seen.
Also consider this: If you go blind in one eye, you will have very little
problem getting around and negotiating 3D space. Memory has a lot to do
with it. Eventually, however, you will loose the sense of stereo depth and
it becomes more difficult.
