mark says >> Since my work often requires me to take 3D photos in
less-than-optimumlighting situations, I've been thinking of a simple way
to focus my camera when it's nearly impossible to see the outlines of
people, or anything vertical that would make focusing possible. So I've
just ordered my solution from a mail order company: a tiny laser
pointer, which I intend to mount on the camera. Then, whenever I need to
focus, I can simply shine the beam at a suitable spot away from the
eyes, and when the two "dots" come together in the rangefinder, I'm in
focus!
Any thoughts on the efficacy or impending failure of this system?<<<<<<<

hi mark!! i predict that it'll work great!!! not only a aid to range
finder focusing, it should provide pinpoint focusing on an slr's matte
screen! wonder if it would be enough of a light source for autofocus to
lock on to!??
i see a possible problem in a totally dark situation!!how would you know
the spot is on the object you want to focus on????? a tripod would be
handy here!!! you'd have a hand free to point the light at your
subject!!! or do you plan to attach the light to the camera with some
sort of nifty swivel device to aim it????
tooDDDeloo!!! janni bearDDD!! creative stereography! kansas city!
