I've used more than one flash with success several times, however I've no
Vivitar
285. I've two Metz 45CT1 flashguns (which even give more output than a 285)
 and one
Vivitar 293 (as backup). The setup is as follows : One 45CT1 is mounted on
the left of
the camera and is used in auto mode (direct). The other one is on the right
 with the flashhead
tilted 45 degrees (giving indirect flash in this way) in manual mode. Watch
 out for ceilings
that are too dark. If my memory serves me a 285 can also be used for
indirect flash.
