An example of when to use manual mode.....the S1 is awesome for shooting
hypers from a plane.....those fast 2.0 Hexar lenses, comined with low
ASA fillm....mean extra sharp resolution ....and I manually set the
camera to infinity here.

Another example: I am a manual camera lover, personally. I have a
Canon AE-1 that I use for cha-chas.....and I only got it llast years
because my Pentax K-1000 that was given to me in the late
1970s...finally gave up.

Nonetheless.....Auto Mode is great on the S1...I was best man at a good
friends wedding three years ago......and had to manage a 175 person
wedding....but wanted to get some nice shots in. The S1 in Auto mode
did the job for me......and the S1 delivered consistent sharp images for
the three rolls I was able to sneak in.
