Jason Shen (digest 3069) is looking for other ways to generate lenticular
sets other than his track camera.
As Owen Pearn (digest 3070) points out, there are a number of ways to do this.
Owen mentions using a computer to "in-between" from photos of different
viewpoints. I have read about this being done "on-the-fly" for lenticular
TV. You might dig through SPIE and SIGGRAPH proceedings for papers on this.
Personally, I've only done limited experiments with this concept. Owen says
"(the images) do not have to be aligned in any special way," but I suspect
the job is easier if the views are shot in a regular pattern.
I have a fair amount of experience in converting flat photographs into
multiple viewpoints for autostereo display. Off-the-shelf software can be
adapted to this purpose, but it still involves human intervention--fairly
labor-intensive, in fact. But our technique (I am not the sole inventor)
is sophisticated enough to convert about any image to 3D. I have made
lenticulars with up to 21 views, I suppose more could be done. Larger
images require more memory, disk space, time, etc.
I keep experimenting with various techniques, I appreciate Owen's mention
of the SIC software and lenticular development. I just downloaded the sic
zip, I'll try it out soon.
I have some samples of my conversions at:

Another interesting camera adaptable to autostereo is that "freeze frame
look around" strip camera discussed here on P3D. I can't recall the trade
name or find the bookmark. Perhaps someone else can provide that. But this
would be a great way to get live models in action poses for lenticulars. In
fact, I'm surprised I haven't seen any POP lenticular displays tied in
with the TV commercials using this camera.
Ray Zone, go sell that idea!
