And if the other bidder had his computer crash, got called by the
boss to work overtime, or simply decided he could not afford to bid any
higher, who would have been the idiot?
I, too, have been completely startled by the prices people are
getting on eBay. I haven't been a final high bidder yet. The only
prices that approach reson on eBay are for items for which shipping
costs exceed the value of the item (e.g., console radios and 2D slide
projectors).
I think eBay is a serious threat to the long-term health of stereo
photography. You might have been able to get someone curious about
stereo to plunk down $75 for a 3.5 Realist as I did, never $300!
