P3D Re: RBT S1 - I love it! :-), part 3 (viewer lighting)

Thanks for the S1 reports George. I'm really
enjoying them.

The S1 sounds like the ideal "snap shot" (no
insult intended) camera. I basically use my Realist
for people shots (grab shots of my kids mostly) and
miss a lot of good ones because of the numerous steps
involved in taking a shot, especially the first one.

All my serious (tripod, careful) shooting is done
in medium format.

I'd love to have an S1 though for the people shots.
Too bad I'd have to sell off all of my present camera
gear to get one :(

I don't know how much the lighting costs or how it
attaches but perhaps you could buy and attach the Cabin
Light Panel like I did (to my MF stereo viewer). It's a
true 5000K light box (4x5" by 1/2" thick) that runs on
4 AAA's. Sells for $75 at New York discount places I hear.

See it on my web page:
http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/viewer.html

My measurements show it to be about 1/2 stop dimmer
than a halogenized (non-frosted) Dr. T red button viewer
powered by nicads. But about 1/2 stop brighter than the
DrT RB when powered from an external 6 volt source.

I plan on rigging up a 5 AA cell nicad pack to deliver
the 6V for when I want the extra brightness.

And the bluer 5000K light seems brighter than the relatively
orange halogen light.

Keep that S1 info coming. I might win the lottery some day :)

Thanks - Greg E.
