P3D Further to RBT X3

I forgot to mention in my message abut the RBT X3 that I also use Hugo
de Wijs viewers. They are quite expensive, but the quality of the
viewed picture is so extraordinarily good that it would be very
difficult for me to go back to any other viewer.

For longer based pictures I bought two identical Ricoh cameras to those
used in the X3. Both with identical Pentax lenses. This makes it very
easy for me to switch back and forth between the X3 and the two Ricohs
mounted on a slide bar. No mental gymnastics are necessary.

As I think about the prices of this new equipment, I can understand how
some people are put off. Let me say however that such investments are
not out of line with what people spend on other hobbies, and much less
in many cases.

There is no comparison between the results of photographs taken with
this modern equipment, and the fifty year old designs, which served the
purpose in their time. Any serious stereo photographer will want to
switch as soon as his finances will permit.

As an aside, perhaps some of you have seen the stunning results obtained
by Dave Klutho (the Sports Illustrated photographer) for his first
stereo photos. Naturally a pro would tend to use the best camera.
