Well, any 35 mm camera can be used with 35 mm slide or print film.

But the RBT models that have 75 mm lens' spacing are compatible with
modern 35 mm automated processing and this includes either slides
directly mounted in 2x2 mounts OR prints printed as a regular print
film from a 2D camera.

Where does the 75 mm lens' spacing come into the picture?  Each 
full frame chip width is 36 mm.  Put two together with a little
bit of space in between and you have 75 mm.  The sequence is
like this:  X O X O Y Z Y Z ...

My RBT S1 sequence is: X 1/2 X Y 1/2 Y...  Every member of a pair
is separated by 4 sprocket holes (or half frame) and pairs touch
each other. 

Costs?  Just the price of 6 VM S1 projectors!  :-)
