Actually it's more than a pair, it's as many points of view as repeated
patterns. Photography can be used just as well as 3D computer output. I used
both techniques for MAGIC EYE images when I worked for them. In fact, I was
often using multiple stereo images in lieu of (or in addition to) the
"hidden image" pattern.
Unfortunately, there is no term that correctly describes these images: none
were actually "random dot" after the first experimental images. So Single
Image Random Dot Stereogram is sort of a misnomer... I tend to use
"Stereogram", even though any stereo image could be considered a stereogram.
More appropriate might be "Single Image Stereogram", but that could include
lenticular/barrier images... perhaps even holography! The easiest
description is MAGIC EYE image... like Jello or Xerox, the brand name often
replaces the generic name (in this case, there IS no generic name!).
