In a normal SLR which has a single film gate, the inter-frame spacing is
determined solely by the film advance mechanism, and is usually fairly
consistent in a properly-working camera. The inter-frame spacing of the
XnB cameras is determined both by the (fixed) spacing of the dual film
gates and the (variable) 1-3-1 advance sequence. So there can be some
variation in the amount of space between pairs, since two different
factors are contributing.
However, I have never had a problem using a variety of different film
processors (multiple Kodak labs and Fuji). They all seem to cope with
the variance just fine.
