Folks,

    I was torn over submitting this to the tech list or the general list,
    but figured that this wasn't super technical.  There has been
    discussion in the past about aspect ratios of TV screens vs. movies,
    etc.   If this topic is of interest to you point your web browser at

    which talks about the original aspect ratio of movies and the film 
    industry's response to TV by coming out with new wide screen 
    formats.  3D is mentioned only in passing, but this is a nice 
    history of these changes.  (In the unlikely event you don't have

    report me for copyright infringement!)
