P3D Film - Kodak E200 pushed to ASA 800

For all you Kodachrome 25 users who occasionally dream of
using something with higher speed, I've got a recommendation
for you: - The new Kodak E200 - This is a professional
Ektachrome type film. - I understand from one of the photo
magazines that the emulsion is substantially different from
Kodak Elite 200. Kodak says it can be push processed up to 2
and 1/2 stops to ASA 1,000. - I've used it pushed two stops to
ASA 800, and I was amazed at the quality of the results. The
colors and grain were excellent; and the blacks did not have
the unsaturated washed out look that is common when films such
Kodak E1600 or Fuji Provia 1600 are pushed two stops. (Those
films are actually ASA 400 films that in theory have been
optimized for a 2 stop push.). I've also used this film at
its rated speed and have been very pleased with the results.
By the way, I used the film to shoot a rock concert at night
in a big Arena. - Such places often balance their lights for
daylight - Smaller nightclubs tend to balance their lights
with for tungsten. The night I was shooting (with two Nikon
2020's and 200mm lenses), I was also using Provia 1600,
exposed at ASA 1600. - The difference between the films is
obvious in the results (although it might not be quite fair to
compare them - because of the one stop difference in speed.)
