I too am trying to figure out a good way to scan my Realist slides, and
have had poor luck.  I bought an Artec 4x5 reflective/slide scanner, but
it doesn't work well with slides.  It has a 4x5" tray that slides out,
then you put your slide between the sandwich of glass, then put this
sheet of translucent material over it, then start the scan.  The results
are poor to marginal at best.  Without the translucent material, it's
even worse.  Anyone have any luck with such a scanner?

I've also tried scanning with my 8x10 flatbed scanner with a light
source over the top, but it doesn't seem to work without disabling the
internal reflective light source, but when I do that the darn scanner
detects that the light source is off and won't scan.  Anyone have any
better luck than this?  There has to be a way to acquire decent scans
without inventing in a high-end film or transparancy scanner, I would
think.
