What type of mounts did you try?  Cardboard?  Would Albions or Emde mounts
work?  Would glass mounted slides fit, or RBTs?  

What I have now is a UMAX 1200S with the lighted transparency adapter but
the resolution and brightness just aren't good enough even for making
images to put on a web page, let alone printing.

It sounds like the price is right on this unit and that it would do most
of what I need.  Is the light bright enough to get good scans in the
darker parts of the image?
