That's not what the quote suggests.  It wants to make sure that the
lens cap assembly is put properly in place.  It does not suggest to
check the individual shutter speeds but just to make sure that the
little thingy that changes the shutter speeds has fallen in place
and the shutter speeds do change.  IMO, you must remove the lens cap
assemply to take out or install a lens cap.
