I would assume you are removing the flash from the camera at these
events
to provide better lighting effects.  Since I hand hold the flash off the
camera, I like the extra insurance the wide angle coverage gives for an
occassional poorly aimed flash.  I also find it softens the light just a
bit.  Most stereo shots are probably close enough to the subject that
you can afford to loose the one f-stop and still shoot at f-8 or 11 with
the 45CT.  (Although I've never tried to shoot a Realist with just my
left hand)

I'd leave it on.
