The idea is using the video captured by a dolling camera to act as
if it were a really long, continuous slide bar. By automatically
picking the appropriate time displaced pairs and editing it to
create a field-sequential tape, you would see true 3D images using
a pair of shutter glasses. Of course this limits what you shoot
and how. Think of it as an automatic version of the Pulfrich
effect. Given quality software, I would expect the effect would
be more consistent and realistic than the Pulfrich effect and
would allow you to mix left-to-right and right-to-left motions
in the video freely. But of course it will be much more expensive
and you'll still get that slight flicker that is always part of
standard NTSC field-sequential stereo video. But like I said, if
the cost is not too dear, I'd love to try it. I'd be able to mix
3D video shot with a conventional video camera with none moving shots
taken with my Toshiba 3D camcorder.
