The inimitable Dr. T recently posted (in part):

This reminds me of a story I read long ago. I believe it is
buried somewhere in the Time/Life series on photography. In any
case...
A famous woman photographer (sorry I don't remember who) had a
showing of her work at some gallery and there was the expected
ooohs and aaahs from the gallery patrons. One of the guests,
in commenting to the photographer, said "These are all such
beautiful photographs, but then look at the expensive
equipment you professional photographers use." As you might
imagine this didn't sit well with the photographer.
Fast forward to a year later and another showing. You're all
probably ahead of me here -- another gallery full of beautiful
photographs, all taken by the same photographer. Only every
image was created using a pin hole camera made from an oatmeal
box.
I love my S1 for the kinds of photographs I like to take. It
allows me to do so both quickly and easily. In many cases we're
talking about pictures that would have gotten away using one of my
other cameras. But for most of my favorite shots, it would simply
have taken more time (and film) to do the same thing using one of
my (much) cheaper cameras. Now while I never thought I'd
eventually be in this position, I have reached the point where I
have more money than time. (Not a *lot* more money, mind you, but a
hell of a lot less time!) So for me, at this stage in my life, I
have found the S1 is definitely worth it to me. (I'm still
working on having more money than brains, but I'm afraid that the
only way that will happen is by my becoming even more stupid.
*sigh*)
Later....BC
