P3D banding with HP photosmart scanner

I know a number of you are using the HP Photosmart scanner.  Apparently
there is a problem with banding for some of them.  According to a survey
on comp.periphs.scanners, HP recognizes this defect and will exchange
for a defect free scanner.  Because of the length and possibly limited
interest, I'm not posting a copy.

Anyone wishing a copy can contact me or scan deja news for a posting
since Dec 9.
