PhotoPaint 7 has a built-in utility for converting color negatives to
positives. I tried it and was disappointed. It was better than a
straight
inversion, but not good enough. The results are posted on the Stereo

England page:

When I scan color negatives into my MAC with a Nikon CoolScan,
the software which came with the scanner lets me see the
image as a positive in a small window, (about 5x7) before I do
the scan. I then use the correction controls within the software
to do my color correction, adjust contrast etc., also before the scan.
It seems to me that there must be some equivalent software
such as a plugin which would have come with your HP. If so, have
you tried it before bringing the image into Corel?
