George,
I agree but how can you let them know?  It's a BIG NO to email any bidder in an 
auction with info like this and ebay will be pretty harsh with you if you do.  
Newsgroup postings once and a while are a possibility in case the person is 
searching them.  I think as the web evolves and information becomes more and 
more easily findable, this will resolve itself naturally.  One day, you'll just 
have your internet agent find all locations where this book is offered and then 
choose!

eBay is actually much quicker than searching other venues.  Plus, many of the 
people bidding on an item aren't picking it up for themselves (i.e. a gift) and 
thus, don't really know where elsewhere to look for it.
