Is it possible you were not actually "freeviewing" but looking at the pairs by
cross-eyed viewing?? Take a look at the stereo division's gallery in the PSA
website of: http://www.psa-photo.org/ and you'll find the two images are
placed for cross-eyed viewing, as not everyone can freeview.
