P3D Judging

At the crossroads of my newly acquired passion of stereo photography (
previously a 2-d hobbyist) I thought about the direction I would like to
pursue, my first " watermark " to attain as a 3-d photographer. I
considered trying to win competitions, and/or becoming a salon judge
etc. I decided quite frankly, that my personal pursuits were much more
challanging and satisfying to me than any title or merit awarded to me
by an outside group. A cop out some may say?! Not at all!
I have conducted my own experiments with 3-d techniques, hardware etc.
and have stumbled across some promising results without the
encouragement or discouragement of others. Honestly, my "film -gel" work
was misunderstood as it was assumed the idea would not work until I
showed samples to Dr. T.
Had I not decided to pursue my own interests, I might have found myself
chasing someone elses approval...and sadly, would not be a judge, or a
winner in a salon competition anyhow. Until the traditional school
accepts the enthusiastic, innovative and fresh ideas that new stereo
photographers can offer.......the newcomer will just continue to do what
they do best with regard to stereo photography, and others will adopt
their ideas and read their books someday. :-) Let others
judge....please!
Those of you who are excellent stereo photographers like Dr.T and many
others...keep shooting. Evaluate the reasons for wanting to be a judge.
Why? Spend the time creating new images that we admire! Why judge the
work of others? Let us continue to see your work!!
