Perhaps offering to sit with one of the judges as they judge a salon to
learn what they're looking for.  Or to show them that you understand
composition, stereo window, etc...  Maybe a judging apprenticeship (sp?)
for a salon or two to make both you and Mr Turner comfortable with your
judging ability.

Just a thought.
