With slides and most mounts you can shift the chips
slightly (separate them) and have the window closer
than 7ft (4-5 ft for most normal mounts).

With Spicer mounts you can use the "reduced height"
mounts to achive top/bottom cropping or can
superimpose two mounts, etc.  More details are found
in "DrT's creative mounting" set (a few pieces are
still available for sale :-))
