I was in Paris for new year's holidays, and I went to a flea market there.
I found a guy who had a packet of French "Stereocartes", edited by
"BruguiËre StÈrÈofilms": they were cards with 8 slide pairs each, vertically
aligned, to be viewed with a viewer called "StÈrÈoclic", which could also be
a projector. No need to say he didn't have it...
I bought one of these cards, with some Mont S. Michel shots, just as a
curio, for 10 FF, that is about 1.7 $. He'd let the whole packet (there were
at least 30 cards) for 100 FF, 17 $. Since I wasn't so interested (I
couldn't easily view them), I didn't think about discussing the price, but
later I realized that I could have had them for much less, since he probably
didn't even know what they were! (On a guide I've read that most merchants
don't know the real price for their items, they just tell one and let the
buyer discuss it; in effect his voice wasn't so convicted when he told it!)
Has someone ever heard about this "StÈrÈoclic" (someone French, I'd say)?
