TOPIC: 3-D HOME MOVIES ë50s STYLE?
*********************************
While looking for 1950s stereo camera images to scan for our local club
bulletin, I came across a news item about this strange contraception for
making and viewing 8mm stereo movies.
The item is reproduced below.
3-D Home Movies (from April 1959 Australian Photo Digest)
****************************************************
For stereo fans a German firm has designed a combined cine camera and
3-D viewer. This takes double-8 mm. Spools of film, run horizontally
through the camera, while twin f/2.8 lenses produce stereo pairs of
frames side by side. The film drive is by an electric motor powered
from single cells or a small rechargeable battery. After processing
and slitting in the usual way, the same film is run again through the
camera. This time the taking lenses serve for viewing the enlarged
images which are illuminated by a built-in lighting system. The whole
unit weighs about 2 lbs., and measures some 6º x 5º x 2º inches - small
enough to fit into a reasonable sized coat pocket.
*** END OF EXTRACT FROM Photo Digest***
This could be one for the Stereo Historians to follow up.
Has anyone heard of this stereo movie camera/viewer?
Does anyone have one?
