An alternative to heat seal mounts are plane card mounts.  They are 
simple to use.  I tend to hold the chips in place with "Wess" tabs and 
then seal the mount with double sided scotch tape.

The other (costly) alternative is to use RBT mounts.  

As an aside to this, I have noticed changes in the mounts used in our 
International Exhibition over the last two to three years.  There is a 
big drop in the number of slides submitted in glass and a corresponding 
increase in the number of slides submitted in RBT mounts.  Also very few 
exhibiters are using the single sided glass RBT mounts.  Have others 
noticed this trend.  I can understand why - after the first couple of 
rolls RBT mounts are fast and a joy to use.
