P3D RBT Window

Jon Golden offered some great ideas to mask down RBT
mounts.......thanks!
A third special effect I produce with RBT mounts , the " transluscent
window " effect is also pretty cool. Check it out. Using a black back,
and the registration pins, I mount the image in a 7p mount ( twin XA2's)
or a 5p mount ( Realist image) I use a white front piece with a smaller
aperature to crop the image from the front side only. The effect is a
soft translucent effect similar to looking through the edges of frosted
glass. The window is still prominent , however the observer experiences
a strong temptation to attempt to look around and behind the window. The
areas of the image that have been cropped out are visibly diffused along
the edges of the window. This is a nice viewer effect.....I am going to
try versions of this idea in projection....perhaps to create a gradual
window without a demarked edge. Many of my recent images include "
window effects" which I feel add yet another area of interest to the
photographs. More RBT hacks to follow.......:-)
