P3D 3D Film Festival
Message text written by INTERNET:photo-3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
>>>One would think that any director of a film festival would know that
>legitimate copies of films from Paramont, MGM, Warner, Universal, Fox and
>Columbia are obtained only through Paramont, MGM, Warner, Universal, Fox
>and Columbia.
Is that rudespeak for "no, these companies never make use of distributors
other than themselves"? Shame on that person for asking a question for
which
he didn't already know the answer!
I vaguely recall seeing "Super-8" format movies for sale through
distributors, but I don't know whether they were illegitimate.
I have had no involvement with any distribution of larger format
movie film, and have never publicly screened movies.<<
No rudeness was intended, but it does strike one as odd that someone
mounting a film festival would not seem to understand that any screening of
a major studio film must be cleared through the stuiod that owns the film.
I'm not sure what the reference to Super-8 films is about, but even they
are expressly forbidden to be shown publicly without studio
permission--they are for private home use only, and are so indicated on the
packaging and usually on the film itself.
