The van Gogh conversion is by Harry Bulk, the present secretary of
the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Stereofotografie.
His company is at http://www.3d-conversion.com/, and he also has a
more private home page at http://home.wxs.nl/~bulk0010/
where you will find several 3D-conversions of cartoons, and
miscellaneous stuff like movie scenes (Back to the future,
Titanic) and Elvis Presley.
Using Harry Bulk's system, Coen Holten (president of the Nederlandse
Vereniging voor Stereofotografie) has made several 3D-conversions
of Escher drawings.
Last year there have been Escher exhibitions in the Netherlands
(celebrating Escher's 100th birthday), including a large one
in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, where his complete graphic work and
many of his paintings were shown.
The Escher 3D-conversions were sold there mounted in fold-down
cardboard viewers, and they still are sold in some shops in the
Netherlands. (I have met Harry and Coen last week at the 101th
Netherlands 3D day).
But I like the conversion by Mike Hodsdon also very much. At:

Discussing these conversions we must however not forget the
magnificent 3D conversions of cartoons already done several years
ago by artists in France and America.
And for 3D-conversions of paintings an outstanding artist is
Makoto Sugiyama, in his already famous book "3D-Museum".

Other remarks:
1. There is copyright on Escher's drawings, therefore
Coen Holten couldn't publish examples on the Web.
(Nor his interesting large anaglyphs of these conversions)
2. Recently on this list there was a linguistic discussion on
"3-D" (hyphenated) versus "3D", I support "3D". Donna Keas wrote:

This is not true! the site is called: 3d-conversion, as it should be!
