P3D Re: projection

Ok, ok.... I am in a much better mood today Tuesday. I have some
very serious thoughts about the future of stereo slides. These
will come later. On the meanwhile, apologies to Jeremy. I am
happy to hear that he is pleased with his VM projection. Here
are the serious answers to his previous questions:

> 1. How long do the projector's polarizers last?

Long enough so that you don't have to worry about them. I have been
using the same polarizers in my TDC for years now.
All of the polarizing glasses that I have (some 10 years old)
are still strong. Only the ones from the 50s are dead by now.

> 3. If you left a reel in for a long time, would it melt the film?

Most probably not. As Linda mentioned, mono projectors do not have
fans. But, equally or even more important, they do not have heat
absorbing filters to remove the heat.

I have not had time to look at Tom's report on the TDC heat problems.
I have done similar work so I am interested to read what he has done
and exchange ideas.

I am planning to write a book on the TDC projectors which will also
serve at an introduction to stereo projection and will tackle many
of these issues, like overheating, etc.
