It worked fine right out of the box for me using Netscape Communicator 4.5
and Win95.

Yes.  It appears that if the image, when displayed with the default 100%
magnification, exceeds the height of the screen, then the vertical
dimension shrinks to fit the screen, which distorts the image.  I haven't
tried it to see if something similar occurs in the horizontal dimension.

The image returns to normal proportions once the user selects a different
magnification.
