P3D I saw the Future - Part III

I think I clearly explained my concerns regarding the future of stereo
slide photography. What we need today is people to train and convince
newcomers that stereo slides are easy and offer a great visual
experience. The older generation that grew up with slide film, the
generation responsible for founding our stereo clubs and initiating
the PSA Stereo Division (based exclusively in slide film, the only
color medium at the time), is fading away now... Who is going to
carry the flag 20 years from now???

Just a minute... Why wait 20 years??? The time to act is now! John
Roberts is trying to convince us that we, slide makers, are the
establishment. Print makers the minority. So we should bend over to
their requests and give them a bunch of "print only" salons to help
them grow. Heck no! Before we realize it, we will be the minority.
We need to fight back. We need to fight for our rights! And we need
to do it NOW! It is an urgent matter. A matter of survival. No more
"political correctness". Slide fans, speak up! Say why you think
slides are superior to prints. Speak up now! We need an active and
charismatic leader (like Bill Walton, only on the other side). A
leader to promote our craft. A leader to establish more stereo slide
salons, more SSA slide folios. A leader to educate our youngsters and
show them the "right way" to stereo...

WHO IS GOING TO FOLLOW ME???

.... (silence) .....

Ok, ok... I got carried away again... :-) But, I would like to say
this to print makers: You are going with the flow. Slide makers are
going against it. You are celebrating today that stereo prints are
gaining more ground but one day we will all be sad when stereo slides
are off the map. If you love stereo photography maybe you should make
an effort to promote both prints and slides. Instead of trying to
convert the last "slide only" salons to "unisex" style, maybe you
should talk to your own "print only" salons to do the same. That only
sounds fair...

George Themelis
Definitely politically incorrect... and, really, not capable
to lead a bunch of hungry wolves to a stray lamb...
