"Maybe one should hack an opaque projector into a stereo card projector,
and get the cards up on a screen for judging and exhibition. (This is
half a joke) .-,"
The other half of the joke is that we scan the image into JPS. Then we
can screen it and put it up on the web. Maybe not a joke.
and,
A usually wise man once wrote:
"Using a computer to print Holmes' cards to be viewed in an antique or
modern Holmes stereoscope for me is a continuation of the old tradition,
while using liquid crystal glasses to view the images in a computer, is
not."
I love my Realist hardware and my TDC-116. But I am more fond of quality
than I am of tradition. Film is the quality medium today. Digital has
different qualities. I can share my images with hundreds of people at a
low cost without leaving home. A new tradition.
Stereo imaging will make a comeback due to new technologies. And slides
will still persist as the quality medium for the modest budget (modest,
ha!). If people learn about stereo on the web, a market may even develop
for medium format film viewers. One of the most difficult problems in
selling anything stereo is that people are often very unfamiliar with
stereo. This is changing fast.
