P3D Mounting VM personal reels

I have been mounting VM reels for about 5 years now but I do not seem to
get any better at it. I first 'open' the pockets of the reel a bit with the
original VM inserter (otherwise these are much too tight), but still often
some minute particle manages to scratch the chip while inserting. What to do?
