P3D V-M mounting query

Hans asks about problems with mounting VM
chips. He says that small particles manage to 
scratch the chips during insertion. Are you sure
the scratching is not caused by the VM inserter
tool you say you use? My technique is to open
up the "mouth" of the pocket using a ground
down feeler gauge, and then insert the chips by 
hand- either using cotton photo gloves or when
I'm in a hurry carefully washed bare hands. I
tried using the inserter tool but could never get
comfortable with it.
