So, is the sole or even primary purpose of the photo-3d list defined
as the promotion of stereo photography to newcomers?

P.S. - Although to use a telephone one needs only to pick up the handset,
       dial a number, and talk, that doesn't mean telecommunications isn't
       a technical subject.  There are more than one aspect to various
       subjects, it's just a matter of defining what the list is for.
       I recall that photo-3d's definition included all aspects of stereo
       and 3d photography and closely related fields.  Several other 
       associated lists were created for in-depth discussions of certain
       aspects, but those aspects were not forbidden here (other than 
       forsale things).  This list wasn't to have substantial deep technical
       discussions, but that doesn't mean zero technical stuff.  Not that
       things often get "prolonged" in T-3D for that matter.  :-(
