If anyone that knows the answers to this (John Baird?, Borris?), you
can e-mail me on or off list. I don't know if this would be of interest
to all others.<<<<<<<
hi lincoln!!
i have a speedotron D1204 powerpack with two strobe heads! the model
number indicates that the powerpack is capable of outputting a total of
1200 watt seconds of power to from one to four strobe heads! using one
head, it would recieve the full 1200 w/s, two, would put out 600 w/s
each! by changing the symetry setting you could send 400 w/s to one and
800 w/s to the other! and four heads would flash at 300 w/s each! the
unit can be adjusted to send less power to the heads down to 50 w/s!!
i never stop to figure out the guide number because i use a flash meter
to find out how much light i'm actually getting at the subject! this
unit will put out f16 to f32 light for 100 asa film on a subject 8 feet
from the strobes! using umbrellas for softer light drops the f setting a
couple stops!
on the side of the power pack is stencilled this graph;
guide numbers for asa 100 film with
the standard (65 degree) reflectors;
power guide #
1200 w/s - 350
800 w/s - 300
400 w/s - 210
200 w/s - 150
100 w/s - 105
50 w/s - 75
hope this answers your questions about pro studio lighting!!
