Franklin, I suggest that she removes the top plate.  There
are 4 screws at the top and you must also remove the two
top in the front to take the top plate off. (Note: You 
cannot remove the top completely because of the wire
that connects to the flash contact, but even with the
top connected to the wire you can still work around.)
First, rejam the button.  Fiddle around to see why is it
jamming.  Most probably it is nothing serious, just need
to bend something somewhere.  Easy to figure out.  No
springs fly when you remove the top.
