This is similar to a technique I learned in film school from Haskell
Wexler, who was a friend of our teacher and often visited our class. He
recommended using both eyes when hand-holding a movie camera so that the
"free" eye could keep track of the world beyond the frame, allowing you to
walk around filming without falling over furniture or stumbling into
swimming pools and the like.
