P3D Oh no!!! Bidding Wars for NSA 2002?

After I saw Dr. T's message yesterday I knew Tom would chime in
with his views on the Twin Cities.  I'm happy to let folks know
exactly what is going on.

The thing we are trying to do is get some group some where 
interested enough to host the convention.  Volla -- two groups
with lots of interest.  We still don't have a definate site for
2001.  Our usual rotation is East, Midwest, West.  We can't get
anyone in the "East" to host it.  So we will probably have to
go out of our normal synch to have it somewhere else.  The Central
Florida Club in Orlando has some interest in it for 2001 but they
don't have a large membership and it would mean double-duty for
a lot of their members.  Also, the best rate we can get on a
hotel with the space we need is $99.00 a night.  With all of the
discount hotels in Orlando we might not make our room committment,
then NSA is out a lot of $$$ (which, fyi, the club does not have).

So we are back to where to go in 2001.  We have someone who would
chair a convention (good ole' Bill Davis who hosted us in Rochester)
but we don't have a site that we can use at a reasonable cost.  We
could have the Rochester area and NYC group host together in 
Saratoga Springs but we're talking $119 a night for a late June
event.  

For 2003 we are looking at S. Calif. since the SCSC has interest in
hosting the NSA again and Portland, Or since Cascade Stereo Club
has expressed an interest in having us sometime like 2003 or after.

So there we are -- no place really for 2001
Minneapolis/Cleveland -- for 2002
S. California (Palm Springs or Riverside)/Portland, OR for 2003 

Does that clean anything up with anyone???
