The following report may be of interest to those who are interested in stereo photography in (non-
stereo) art competitions. Last weekend was the opening of the Yosemite Renaissance exhibition. It has
been held annually since 1985 and has included all types of art works from paintings to photographs to
sculpture, on the theme of Yosemite and the Central Sierra Nevada. This year's exhibition was chosen from
about 350 pieces from artists all over the U.S. There are 50 pieces in the show of which approximately
half are photographs and the other half are paintings, with one sculpture. I was fortunate to have had 4
pieces accepted, of which 3 where stereo and one was a 360 degree panorama. One of the stereos won a $200
award (the infrared "Aspens" for those who are familiar with it) and an interior from Bodie was awarded
an Honorable Mention (no money). I was informed this evening that the other stereo image (another
interior from Bodie) was sold for $300 plus $150 for the viewer. The format of the images is large prints
(10x10 inch square), viewed with the Large Format Viewer (front surface mirrors, no lenses). I have been
exhibiting stereo images with this format for about 10 years, but this is the first time I have had them
in an exhibition like this.
